Classroom
Visits and Seminars
Designed for middle school and high school arts and humanities
courses. The seminar format gives students a real workout
in the presence of Leonardo's demanding yet charming intensity.
They have the opportunity to exercise their understanding
of the connections among fields of knowledge that in traditional
school settings remain segregated. They have the opportunity
to build a sense of context for the events of history. And
they have the opportunity to reflect on the nature of their
own genius, a budding sense of purpose in life and an obligation
to extend and apply one's gifts in service to the world.
I am myself inspired by the mentor/apprentice model of learning
and this exchange provides a glimpse into its initiatory
power.
